Mark Twain School Library The Mark Twain School Library is filled with an abundance of resources for all ages. There are thousands of books, magazines and videos available for student and staff use. There are also 35 computers for the students to utilize for research and assignment completion. The goals of the library are to: *Cultivate a love of reading and encourage students to become lifelong learners *Provide a broad range of quality resources to support both recreational reading and curriculum *Teach students to become ethical and effective users of both print and electronic resources. As we begin the school year, students will be getting reacquainted with the parts of the library, procedures for the library and the rules and expectations of the library. In all classes, students will review the library expectations. Grades 1-8 will begin checking out the week of September 10th. Grades K-2 will listen to stories about the Library and its importance in learning. They will begin by learning library and check out procedures, book care, and identifying and understanding the parts of a book. Child must be enrolled by a parent or legal guardian Documents needed for registration: Childâs birth certificate (for PreK & Kindergarten and all students new to Chicago Public Schools) Copy of transfer, medical, dental, and vision and any IEP from the last school attended Parent or legal guardian must have 2 pieces of legal identification with current address: Drivers License or State ID and one of the following: Current utility bill: Insurance, Bank Statement, Medical Card, Paycheck stub, etc. Child must be 5 on or before September 1, 2019 to enroll in Kindergarten (born on or before 9-1-14) Dental exams are required for students entering K, 2nd grade and 6th grade Vision exams are required for students enrolling in Kindergarten and any student enrolling in CPS for the first time.
